Statement From Leicester Speedway Supporters Club

The Leicester Speedway Supporters Club are delighted to hear that the
lease for Beaumont Park Sports Complex, which will enable on-site
construction work on the new speedway track to proceed, has now
finally been signed. We are excited that the prospect of speedway
racing returning to Leicester is no longer a dream, but a fast
approaching reality. The 2011 season cannot come soon enough, and
after 28 long years we will finally see the return of the Leicester
Lions. This is also a wonderful opportunity for a whole new
generation of local people to come along and witness this high-octane
exciting team sport for the first time.

We would like to register our gratitude to all those who have made it
possible, but most especially the new promoter, David Hemsley, who's
tireless and dedicated work to realising this dream has been nothing
short of astonishing. We have worked closely with him every step of
the way but it is his sheer determination that has finally made it
happen.
Since last autumn he has also been joined by former World
Champion Sam Ermolenko. Sam's experience and vision to help create a
purpose-built speedway track at Beaumont Park should mean we have one
of the best racing circuits in the world right here on our doorstep.
We would also like to thank the local ward councillors who have
supported the project, and seen fit to offer their considerable
assistance to David since the planning application was approved lastAugust.

And finally, to all our members who have kept the faith and
supported the cause since we launched this campaign back in early 2007.
Our club's aim now is to support the new promotion in every way
possible, and play our part in helping get Leicester back on the
speedway map. In the process we'll be cheering on the Lions riders to
on-track success in the exciting seasons to come.

A note to contractors and prospective stadium employees

Since the recent announcement that planning permission has been secured for a new sports facility at Beaumont park, 
we have recieved many emails from contractors and individuals expressing their interest in working at the venue.

Leicester Speedway Supporters Club will never be in a position to hire contractors or employ individuals at the new 
Speedway stadium. This will be done by the professional body running the Speedway club.

However, offers of professional services from contractors should be directed to LSSC Secretary Steve Chilton 
who will pass them on to the relevant people within Beaumont Sports Complex Ltd.
